Support Sea Turtle Conservation on Bear Island
The Hatchling Heroes program is an exciting fundraiser to support things like sea turtle protection efforts on Bear Island.
How It Works
- FHBI and the Park will grid the viable sea turtle nesting habitat on Bear Island into mapped squares.
- Supporters can donate $25 to register for a randomly assigned square on the grid.
- Each square represents a direct investment in sea turtle conservation and park needs.
When the first sea turtle nest of the season is dug, the individual whose square contains that nest will receive:
- An official certificate
- The honorary opportunity to name the first hatchling from that nest
- A beautifully matted 5x7 print of the “momma” turtle
Why It Matters
All registrations go directly through fhbi.org and support park needs like:
* Sea turtle program costs (protective cages, monitoring supplies, and equipment)
* Conservation initiatives
* Park improvement and preservation needs
Become a Hatchling Hero and help protect the next generation of sea turtles-one square at a time.
Program runs until the first egg of the season is laid
